I'm determined to quit cigarettes, so I figure this is my last day. I made a promise to a friend of mine a couple weeks back that this Saturday would be the day to quit. I hope the weather's good, and I can just ride my bike all weekend. I'm gonna wanna crawl outta my skin at some point. I just wanna be able to breathe normal again.
Most states got a settlement from the tabacco companies and set up departments to help their residents quit. For instance, Ohio's gives you six weeks of free nicotine patches (800) 934-4840. Might want to check it out for your state. Good luck.
Have you thought about tapering off as opposed to cold turkey. It is a real shock to the system this has been a part of you for 30 years.....I know. Accupuncture is also helpful for curbing addictive cravings.....this I also know.
Funny you mention that. I had accupuncture to quit smoking. At first I had no cravings, but at the time I didn't really want to quit, and I started again. Cigarettes never tasted the same after the procedure, though. They tasted especially bad when I was sick. It was pretty weird.
" Future years will never know the seething hell and the black infernal background of countless minor scenes and interiors, (not the official surface courteousness of the Generals, not the few great battles) of the Secession war; and it is best they should notthe real war will never get in the books." ~ Walt Whitman
This isn't gonna help but I tried to quit for me so many fucking times and the longest I've gone was 3 months but I just don't have the willpower.
Even after a smoke,I get lightheaded and when I check my blood pressure,it goes way up,like 150/105,and I take meds to control this. I tried everything, but if you don't have the willpower, you can't do it.
I still try to cut back, but it's hard. I ran out of smokes once at home and I went nuts turning everything upside down looking for a smoke.
I heard Tobacco's more addicting than Heroin.
I'm inclined to believe that.
