Bow tie pasta in an asiago cheese cream sauce with flaked beef, diced onion, slivered red bell pepper, oven roasted garlic, and pine nuts.

A friend gave me the recipe, along with a chunk of asiago cheese. Damned good stuff.

Not eating it this minute, but I put a pork pie in the oven about 40 minutes ago. Lean pork loin diced, diced onion, shitake mushrooms, jerusalem artichokes, thin sliced carrot, garlic, and a bit of celery sauteed in pork broth I started making yesterday, thickened with potato flour; all in a pastry shell.

If it tastes one half as good as it smells, it will be delicious.

*edit: It was pretty damned good, indeed.

Pumpkin bread with pecans. I baked it in the microwave. Turned out great.

Amen.

Just had an old-fashioned hamburger made with fresh hamburger meat. Mustard, dill pickle chips, tomato slices, chopped ice berg lettuce and onions. French fries, fried soft, sliced from fresh taters. Ice tea. Mmmmmm, mmmmmmm!

Amen.

There is a burger joint here called Grif's - it is a block from the LSU Med Center, and serves the best damned burger in town, and great fries. I talked with the manager one day about their burgers and fries, and her statement was that they buy fresh ground beef from a local processor, so it is never frozen, and is ground to an 80% lean/20% fat ratio (most hamburger is 70/30). They have a fry cutting machine in back, and her claim was that fries hit the fryer within one hour of being sliced, maximum. All I know is, they serve great burgers and fries at very fair prices.

I consumed my second chilli dog from Checker's in the past 24 hours, and I am afraid this is the beginning of a very delicious addiction.

just drinking apple cider at the moment, but will be making Banana-Chocolate Chip Pancakes with Bacon for dinner tonight. Camille has been asking me every hour, since 9 AM, if it's time for dinner yet.

Those sound tasty. I'll bet they'd also be good substituting pecan pieces for the chocolate chips.

Amen.
