" Future years will never know the seething hell and the black infernal background of countless minor scenes and interiors, (not the official surface courteousness of the Generals, not the few great battles) of the Secession war; and it is best they should notthe real war will never get in the books." ~ Walt Whitman

Oh, in a fashion, I suppose. Most hotels I stay in still provide complimentary copies of newspapers. In fact, I looked at a copy of USA Today a couple weeks ago. It struck me as pretty pathetic. Minimal content. I used to enjoy it not so many years ago.

If I might ask, what kinda papers are those? We still have a hometown paper, but it’s awful. Fifty cents for four pages. And the bulk of the news content consists of obituaries, regurgitations of court filings and legal publications. As for local news and happenings, it just can’t compete with social media.

Isn't it funny that offhand I can't remember the names of these 2 papers? Every subway rider sees them. I'm pretty sure that one is called "Metro News." I'll take a picture of the front cover of each and post them.

Oh, I’m never around him to listen to anything he says. Dingle, on the other hand, seems to bump into him a lot. He’s how I hear about most o’ Heffernan’s shenanigans.
