Thanks.. I'll take more later and post them.(probably tomorrow) It won't be too much longer the snow will fall here and I can post some of those too. We have the harvest moon now. It snowed before halloween last year and it's chilly here today.
Rail road path...It looks alot better in black and white.
Halloween decor at some random place..
This next two picture are of the same place. There is a rather interesting story behind the pictures..
The monument is to the right of this shed. This shred is a shrine and inside is an old battered statue of virgin Mary holding baby Jesus.
Story has it that many many years ago, early 1900's I think, a great palgue fell on the city. Scarlett fever or something like that and it was very contagious. Behind this shrine is the river and beyond the river is a hilltop. Back then they used an old schoolhouse on top of the hill to bring the very sick to be tended to by the docs.
So many people were dying so fast they didn't know what to do with the diseased bodies. So they dug a massive hole inside the river bank and made a pulley system. It ran from the schoolhouse across the river to this hole. As people passed away they were put into a wooden box and sent over to the hole. With each death they sounded a horn for the people of the city to know another had passed away.
After the plague had taken it's toll and was no longer a threat, they filled the mass grave and built the shrine for the memory of those lost.
After I had taken the pics and got home I seen something odd in the doorway. Kinda eerie but probly some stray black cat. Who knows. Kinda cool though.
The friggin woodpecker that terrorizes me in the day time..
More river shots..
My next halloween shots. I actually met the owners and had a nice visit with them. They put alot of time and work into the decorations, especially the spider. They used green mesh wire and duct tape and spray paint for the body and pvc pipe for the legs. The spray insulation to make the legs look furry..It took about 8 hours to make it. I gave them the addy here so they can check them out.

If I only had the heart to do that. He is driving me crazy at times. He taps on the side of the house and it sounds just like someone is knocking. So I go to the door and no one's there. It took me two times doing that to spot him and chase him off. Then he started coming to the other side of the house and got right in my window in my computer room and started tapping on the window. He got the leaf, and I took his pic then he left.

Do you not think it deeply ironic that such a evidently Christian nation (polls suggest well over 60% of the population go to some sort of Christian Church regularly) would celebrate with such fervour the pagan Night of the Dead? Personally I would have thought that November 1st, which is All Saints Day, would be more commonly celebrated.
