Do NOT suggest to Pianomahnn that he document his day pictorially.
I repeat, DO NOT!.
The last time someone suggested such (at THT), we got treated to an every 1/10th of a mile pictorial essay of his normal driving route to work, followed by a step-by-step pictorial layout of the walk to his office, then through the office to his cubicle, from the parking lot. About 4 gigabytes worth of pictures.
Oh, and it was raining today. A magnificent Chicago morning!!! I managed to take a little bit too early of a train and had to wait around for about 25 minutes for the shuttle bus.
See, the chicago route time chart only shows the leave times for any single stop, and not the times that given train reaches the next stations. The metra rail maps/charts do this, and it makes arranging pickups easy. I know when I'll be at my destination. Not with Chicago's EL. I need to guess how long it's going to take me to travel 15 miles on the train. Bastardos!!! Tomorrow I take something less early.
Alas the price of gas is draining my wallet as well. But then the bus is just a block away from my house and it takes me straight to work. One bus only. So I called my insurance and cancelled my Cavalier that my son designed that he won't drive anymore till he replaces the windshield (got pulled over, given a warning, fucking cop I'm sure just checking he was legal with the way the car looks bla bla bla) and I changed my truck insurance to recreational use only and at 100 miles a year so yes,I too will ride the bus to work and back. But dawgs,I save over $200.00 a month for gas savings and insurance drop.
But the only concern is if ,my client would ride the bus without fuss so I just came home from going with my client downtown, lunch and back. I took a lot of pictures but it all had just my client in it but I do have some without! And he did real good,BTW.
Oh. And a regular bus pass is a little over 50 bucks a person a month BUT my client is Developmentally Disabled which makes him Disabled and his pass would only be 24 dollars a month. That's only 8 gallons of gas...won't even last me three days of work and back. AND I am a BUS TRAINER and that means when I'm TRAINING my client to ride the bus I ride for FREE.
That's one of the big lifestyle changes I'll be making going to Mexico. I'll have no car and be using Public Transport for everything. Life without my own transportation is going to be very different. It will be nice not paying for gas at all, but I will still be paying for insurance on my car while I'm gone because I have instructed my mom to drive it at least one day a week so it won't be just sitting the whole time. She doesn't mind one bit: "hey mom I'm leaving my BMW with you for 6 weeks, be sure and drive it now and then, okay"
Well I done did it. I got my client a photo ID special discount card. Can't show his name and pic due to HIPPA. What's nice for this month anyway is that I can start using this card right away due to the RTD strike last month. I pay $29.00 a month actually(half off). I'll always be free to ride as long as I'm with him..he goes everywhere with me to work, during work, back home.
It's hard to believe that I'm gonna actually follow thru with this. I'm gonna miss driving Luther (my truck),but the extra 200 bucks a month is gonna look shweet.
I start tomorrow. Normaly we leave my house at 6:45 AM and get to work by 7:00 AM,not having to be there till 7:30 AM. Now we need to leave my house by 6:15 AM at the latest to be at the bus stop that leaves around 6:25 AM and will get us to work by 7:05 AM.
I think were gonna leave at 6:00 AM tomorrow so I can time how long it would take for us to walk that block.
I'm pretty down,man. Oh well.
Took the early bus back. Snuck out. It was cool. We were back at about the same time were usually back(3:30). Weird.
I know my truck is out there yet I'm not missing it yet. This bus thing I can get used to. And I'm WALKING now. I'm WALKING. That's huge,Dawgs.
Maybe cutting back on smokes....that's gonna be hard...maybe not.
I'll see where I'm at in a couple of months.
It's raining today. I could drive to the grocery store parking lot to the covered bus stop,or I could just drive to work today. I hurt my back yesterday, client in a wheelchair was falling and I caught her saving her but at a cost..but I bought this bus pass...it would be a waste.
I'll drive down the street.
