Ground beef = hamburger. Hamburger = ground beef pattie between a bun with cheese and pickles and stuff. So hamburger soup, to my mind, is a soggy cheeseburger floating in god knows what.

I've never even heard of hamburger soup. I need to ask around and see if anyone I know has heard of it. Uncle Jeb, have you heard of it or have you ever had it?

Yeah, I was pretty grossed out when I heard it was a thing. In the spirit of trying American "cuisine", I tried tuna casserole once. Ewwww. That was a nasty assault on my tastebuds, and the texture is all wrong.

This reminds me of someone I saw on TV a while back -- and I can't remember who it was -- who had his jaw broken so badly that his mouth had to be wired shut and he would have, from time to time, steak put in a blender and would have it through a straw. No thank you.

Heh, when I was a kid (decades ago), one of mom’s dishes in regular rotation in her family meal meat-extender-arsenal was the dreaded tuna casserole. She’d take a little can of tuna and blow it up into dinner for a family of five by adding lots of elbow macaroni, crumbled saltines, chopped celery and onions, Miracle Whip and more. Pop it in the oven and voila!. Dinner is served.

What I wouldn’t give for just one more of her tuna casseroles....

Amen.

I know the feeling (I think). Mum used to make 'pizza', with a homemade base, topped with tinned spaghetti and cheese. Nasty. But yeah, I'd be very happy if I could eat it again.

That being said, I can't stomach the thought of miracle whip in anything.

I baked cookies and cakes at ten w/o supervision. This seems odd... but reheating pizza in these is a game changer. Usually the bake is a little dry but we do stuffed mushrooms in it, chicken, pizza, you can bake garlic... mmm garlic.
