It's A Beautiful Day ~ White Bird

This band was quite talented and built a following back in the day. I saw David LaFlamme perform live in a small bar in Breckenridge, Colorado in the early '80's. Son, son. He could blister that fiddle.

Here's a stepped-up live performance.

About the band, from wikipedia.

Amen.

memory lane Jeb....
i met some bona fide ex flowerchildren in fremantle, western australia once.
i was killing time, walking along the beachfront and happened past a house with two guys on the porch listening to jefferson airplane or hendrix.. i can't quite recall which. normally i'm fairly antisocial and don't just talk to strangers, but for some reason i commented on the music they were playing and we started a conversation. they invited me onto their porch and poured me a glass of stout and we chatted about psylocibin, london in the sixties and other fascinating shit that blew my young mind. i think they were impressed with my love for their era of music and one of the guys gave me an old cassette of ...you guessed it - it's a beautiful day.
i haven't heard them for about 15 years now.

the beta band - dry the rain

now defunct, this great band never gained the success they richly deserved.
reminds me of pink floyd if they'd let beck join.
trippy and laid back.

Dead Confederate ~ The Rat

A good find, Imposter ol' pal. Here's another one from this intriguing band:

Here's something about the band.

Also, here's their myspace space. Check out "Heavy Petting".

Amen.

Nice post, cruncle. Here's another old school band you may have heard of; if you haven't, I hope you like 'em. They were essentially a short-lived supergroup:

Here's Dancing Madly Backward, live.

About the band, from wikipedia.

Amen.

nice, very nice. never heard of the band, but i'm very familiar with rod evans and his work on the first deep purple album. i also know iron butterfly well, thanks mainly to an older brother of one of my best friends. he turned us onto neil young, quicksilver messanger service and iron butterfly etc.
i remember the day 'happy trails' arrived, which he'd ordered from the states. he was loathe for us young punks to even look at it, let alone touch it.
i had a strange and eclectic musical upbringing, dividing my time happily between the byrds and venom, peter tosh and the sex pistols.

my alltime favourite band of the early seventies is BUDGIE who never got the recognition they deserved.
i guess being welsh doesn't help...

Budgie - rape of the locks

That was a super-fine tout, mate. I'd never heard of 'em, but what a treat. They've been pretty influential, too. As I'm sure you well know, Metallica covered this:

Here's the cover.

Amen.

Thumbs up Divinyls ~ Boys In Town

IMHO, lead singer Christina Amphlett is the Divinyls. I've really, really liked her for a long time. I have the Desperate album on vinyl. So, here ya go:

About Christi . . . er, the band, from wikipedia.

Amen.
