Yeah, that's a good one.

Of course, for sheer novelty awesomeness that somehow perfectly captures the spirit of the original, here's two ugly Scots doing a ukulele cover of the Ramones.

Ewan McGregor ~ Your Song

Whether you like him, or not, Elton John has had a truly remarkable career. I saw him live back in the 70's and he put on quite a performance. To this day, however, one of his earliest songs remains, IMHO, his best. I'm talking about "Your Song".

I couldn't hardly stand that movie Moulin Rouge. One thing, however, stuck out for me: Ewan McGregor's singing of Your Song on the soundtrack. My goodness, it's as good or better than the original and that boy does, indeed, has some pipes:

Ewan McGregor.

Amen.

If I recall correctly, Rokkr turned me on to this cover of Black Betty:

This is probably stretching it. Blues songs sort of bypass the whole "cover" thing. But, it's an old Robert Johnson tune, and maybe my favorite live performance video ever.

Also: Guy Forsythe plays a goddamn mean steel guitar. You'd think he sold his soul or something...

Three Dog Night ~ Chest Fever

I've always liked 3-Dog's cover of this legendary Band tune:

Well, they sound better than ever (minus Chuck, of course). I've seen 'em twice during the last 3-4 years. As you well know, they're one of those acts that can present a full show of nothing but their hits.

My impression of him from the audience is that he's a nice fella and a consummate professional. Sounds like you have a good gamin' buddy, ol' pal.

Amen.

Hayseed Dixie ~ Walk This Way

This is an unusual and outstanding cover of an older Aerosmith classic:

Fancy ~ Wild Thing

This song written by Chip Taylor became a huge #1 hit in 1966 for the Troggs. Jimi Hendrix also gave it a well-known cover. Fancy did will with it in 1974, too:

Fancy.

Here's the first recording of Wild Thing in 1965 by Jordan Christopher & The Wild Ones.

Amen.

Hayseed Dixie kicks ass.

JEB, not sure if Dmoon ever hipped you to him, but Scott H. Biram's become one of my favorites in that sort of vein. Speaking of covers, he does an outstanding one of Steppenwolf's Pusherman.

I will, however, not take the bait and post The Gourds.

In other news, Sam Cooke is the greatest vocalist to ever live, and I will fight anyone who says different. And this, this is what YouTube is for:

A unique and very cool cover of what is possibly the greatest song ever recorded. The fucking chatty retards had no idea what they missed.

System Of A Down ~ Snowblind

I really like this Black Sabbath cover. SOAD put something new on the table with this song that, IMHO, works very well. I also think the fact that Serj didn't try to mimic Ozzy was a good move:

Amen.

also kyuss has a cover of Into the Void by Sabbath it's pretty good, check it out.

(Soundgarden put out a crazy version of Into the Void, lyrics set to a speech by Native American chief (Sealth/Seattle) it's amazing but not everyones cup of tea.
