If you're lucky, they won't buy a new one if you scratch it strategically.

That's a thought but with the strangled budget the local library gets I'd rather not be responsible for them wasting even more funds trying to replace it.

Tree of Life
this will not be for everyone by a long way, and it opens rather self indulgent with the creation life that will have the majority of people turning it off
but...when it starts moving i was mesmerized, in total awe of a movie telling a story through bursts of episodic memory. the way all of us really remember things. on my top ten list for the year easy

It will be on a lot of lists. Terrence Malick is beloved of many film fans.
It's still a must see for me.

Paganini (Klaus Kinski, 1989)

no plot-just a 2 hour long montage of spellbinding art and music.

Great as this is, I feel like it opens doors for someone to make a truly magnificent modern film about Paganini.

Meh. This movie is a turd and I doubt their commitment to Sparkle Motion.

I love Kinski and Paganini, so thanks plum.

Gaah, there's this piece I simply cannot find (yet) on YT. Starts with the guitar alone for a minute or so, and then when you're just nodding off, CRASH comes the violin and rapes your ears in that good way.
Anyone?

Drive

It was good for a drama. I liked this producer's style.
Needed more driving though.

You know but the way the producers portrayed Gosling was pretty cool. He's like more badass than Rambo yet much more calmer.

the trailer is pretty on the nose about the action plot but devoid of the emotion involved in the film, and there's a lot of non-action scenes. Its not a chase movie, the "Drive" being more :exp : to strive vigorously toward a goal or objective; to work, play, or try wholeheartedly and with determination.

It's not the movie i read the script for several months back, I've heard the one i got my hands on was the original draft back when Hugh Jackman was attached to play "Driver" but after he dropped out and the director quit a re-write shrunk the script by almost 30 pages and it almost didn't get made until Gosling heralded it to producers and even got the director he wanted. It's still a good movie....

the screener on the torrent sites has the unfinished score burrowing songs from 'the social network" and others it's distracting at times to hear reznors music over some of the dialogue scenes, so opt to either see the finished movie i theaters or wait til a decent copy hits the netz it might soil it for you. (I'm guessing LF saw the screener)

after seeing this in the cinema I didn't want to get up in leave just roll over and sleep awhile.

I think Linklater is great too but you could probably stay clear of his "bad news bears" remake (unless you like that sorta move)

Yeah, bad news bears isn't top priority. Wouldn't you just miss Walther Matthau?

Devil.

Nice little b-thriller.
I actually preferred the stuff outside the elevator. There's nothing like a bunch of honest guys milling around in a skyscraper, trying to solve an unsolvable problem. 7/10
