Next best thing. I saw it at the library and thought, well I don't have anything better to do.

Before I Fall (2017)

I saw BIF this evening. I can say this without spoilage - BIF spins on the same turntable as Groundhog Day. The preponderance of the reporting critics also liked BIF as it piled up a 68% fresh rating on RT.

The main problem I have with BIF has nothing to do with the story. Rather, this is a story about high school seniors. As is nearly always the case, however, the actors look much older and that is a distraction for me. Two of the main actors, Zoey Deutch and Sage Halston were born in 1994 and 1993, respectively.

Here's a link. Do not pay retail to see this. There's absolutely no big-screen enhancement to the viewing experience.

Amen.

Old School (2003)

I watched this afternoon. I'd seen it when it first came out. It was even funnier, now. Not a bad way to kill some time on a Sunday afternoon. Here's a link.

Winter's Bone (2010)

I just got through watchin' this on the tube. I almost didn't. Glad I did, though. This is not an uplifting flick by any stretch. Rather, it's real. WB not only managed to hold my attention, it impressed me. The critics got it correct on this one, as indicated by the 94% score on the Tomatometer.

Here's a link.

Amen.

I saw Logan earlier this evening. It was better than I expected. Dafne Keen is impressive. Here's a link.

Thumbs up The Belko Experiment (2017)

I saw TBE this afternoon. Rotten Tomatoes wasn't too keen on it. As for me, I'll put it like this - the flick was interesting as hell. For the squeamish, it's a bit of a ruff ride. To be precise, es muy violento.

Here's a here.

Amen.

Ahh postmodernity with a heart. All the actors in this are lovable. 8/10

I saw PR this past weekend. Visually slick. Otherwise, all teen stuff. Take the kids if you go. Here's a link.

Get Out

Nice horror film with a not very subtle race symbolism. Some of the pacing was off, I really wanted it to last longer and go deeper.

There is a classic movie in here and unfortunately it doesn't quite make it there.

But I am not the intended audience. JEB should love it. 7/10

And oh yeah, Betty Gabriel is fantastic.

Glad you enjoyed it, Dane. It was much, much better than I thought it would be.

And Amen, Again.

Sweet.
I had the opposite experience. Everyone said it was about the best movie ever, so I was a little disappointed that it was only very good.

CHIPS (2017)

I saw CHIPS earlier today at the budget bijou. Critics generally hated it. And it arrived at the cheap seat theatres right quick.

CHIPS wasn't awful. Far from it. But, it isn't very good. That's a shame, because it could've been much better. IMHO, Dax Shephard is the main problem. He is much better suited for shorter roles, such as his turn in Idiocracy. He's similar to Rob Schneider, in that regard. They're both funny for a bit, but neither one has the chops to carry a whole movie.

Wait to see CHIPS grasshoppa-style (free!). Here's a link.

Amen.

Split.

Shyamalan is the all-beloved house director of the Asylum, and his latest one doesn't disappoint.

And good lord, leading lady Anya Taylor-Joy is pretty. I felt like masturbating everytime there was a close-up.

Unfortunately there are some really dark, and imo unnecessary, aspects concerning child abuse which kind of kill the boner. 7.1/10

Traders is an Irish film. I watched it this afternoon. An interesting film where you can pick your favorite Irish asshole from a generous selection. My favorite was Barry Keoghan. Watch and choose yours. Here's a link.
