Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)

I saw GOG2 Friday. In 3d. It's excellent. Go see it. Now. It's even better than the first one. Lotsa ha-ha, hyuk-hyuk, snort 'n' chortle.

Here's a link.

Amen.

Beauty and the Beast 2017
I didn't think I would like it.
But it is actually a little different than the Disney version.
I like the scenes where Belle's Mom was talked about.
100.
Can't find any faults.

"Bucky VS Ironman: Dawn of who's the Captain's Bestie."

Once again I listened to all the people saying this is the best Marvel movie ever and so I was disappointed. When will I learn? 6/10

Snatched (2017)

I saw this at the budget theatre yesterday. While I can't say it was truly awful, it would be a stretch to call it mediocre.

Goldie Hawn is Goldie Hawn. Not much has changed since Laugh In. Chris Meloni? His career has tumbled since since he left SVU and his appearance in this turd won't help. Lastly, Ami Schumer's limited shtick wore out long before this stinker hit the screen. She is no movie star.

As for a link? You don't need no stinking links!

Just kidding. Here's a stinky link.

Amen.

Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) 3D

I saw this Saturday. I won't call it a "must see", but it ain't bad. Not at all. No one in particular stood above the rest of the cast, but they all worked well together.

Although I shelled out the extra 3D bufu fee, I didn't see any reason to recommend watching it in 3D.

Here's a link.

Amen.

I watched this vampire flick yesterday. It's really good. Solid cast, including Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe and Sam Neill. Here's a link.

Dark is a way and light is a place,
Heaven that never was
Nor will be ever is alwas true,
And, in that brambled void,
Plenty as blackberries in the woods
The dead grow for His joy.

There he might wander bare
With the spirits of the horseshoe bay
Or the stars' seashore dead,
Marrow of eagles, the roots of whales
And wishbones of wild geese,
With blessed, unborn God and His Ghost,
And every soul His priest,
Gulled and chanter in youg Heaven's fold
Be at cloud quaking peace,

But dark is a long way.
He, on the earth of the night, alone
With all the living, prays,
Who knows the rocketing wind will blow
The bones out of the hills,
And the scythed boulders bleed, and the last
Rage shattered waters kick
Masts and fishes to the still quick stars,
Faithlessly unto Him

Who is the light of old
And air shaped Heaven where souls grow wild
As horses in the foam:
Oh, let me midlife mourn by the shrined
And druid herons' vows
The voyage to ruin I must run,
Dawn ships clouted aground,
Yet, though I cry with tumbledown tongue,
Count my blessings aloud:

Four elements and five
Senses, and man a spirit in love
Thangling through this spun slime
To his nimbus bell cool kingdom come
And the lost, moonshine domes,
And the sea that hides his secret selves
Deep in its black, base bones,
Lulling of spheres in the seashell flesh,
And this last blessing most,

That the closer I move
To death, one man through his sundered hulks,
The louder the sun blooms
And the tusked, ramshackling sea exults;
And every wave of the way
And gale I tackle, the whole world then,
With more triumphant faith
That ever was since the world was said,
Spins its morning of praise,

I hear the bouncing hills
Grow larked and greener at berry brown
Fall and the dew larks sing
Taller this thuderclap spring, and how
More spanned with angles ride
The mansouled fiery islands! Oh,
Holier then their eyes,
And my shining men no more alone
As I sail out to die

-Poem on His Birthday,
Dylan Thomas

Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets (2017)

I saw this in 3D last night. Visually, it's interesting. Otherwise, this is nothing more than a kid movie and it's too long. Here's a link.

The Revenant.

Wtf, movie is terrible. Pretty pictures, but the rest is fucking stupid.

I liked Birdman a lot, but this is is 10 steps backward for Inarritu. 3.5/10

Ant-Man

Meh 5/10

The Dark Tower (2017)

I saw this Stephen King adaptation at the early afternoon matinee. It was enjoyable. I certainly liked it better than the preponderance of the Rotten critics. That said, as is usually the case, there is nothing here to justify paying retail, nor is it an epic visual feast optimally consumed from a theatre screen. Here's a link.

Amen.

Thumbs up Kidnap (2017)

I saw this Halle Berry thriller a coupla nights ago. Why? Just for the hell of it. And, also because Halle remains one of the most remarkably beautiful women I've ever seen.

Fuck the critics. I liked this flick.[spoiler]

Here's a Halle.

Amen.

Thumbs up 47 Meters Down (2017)

I saw this shark movie earlier this evening. It's been out a few weeks and there were only four patrons, including yours truly, in the theatre. I got a sweet-spot seat in the middle of the third row.

This flick was pretty good. Lotsa tension. I do think it would be best to see it up close and personal on the big screen in order to better feel the vastness of the ocean. But, there's no need to pay retail, so try to catch in at the discount theatre. Here's a link.

Amen.
