I made a comment about tapes immediately below a picture of a Walkman along with other comments referring to that picture, so there is clearly a context. A Walkman does not play master tapes, nor do master tapes even have the same use as a cassette tape, so I fail to see how I'm the pedant when you're the one who clearly didn't understand the conversation. If you want to have a digital vs analogue recording debate, you're welcome to... but that's not what anyone was talking about.

I take full ownership of being called a pedant on the "album vs. record vs. CD" thing, though; but that came after your post.

"On record" is a term I think should still be used as it refers to something being saved for posterity. Think about how reporters still use the term to mean that facts have retained as in, "We have all of his statements on record."

I can agree with "on record", though I was associating that term with vinyl, which seems to be used rather interchangeably.

Otherwise, I think the definition of Album you use could easily apply to a CD as well. The only difference is the size of the artwork. MP3 Album might be a bit trickier, though I guess I've mostly just associated albums as being more about a "unified (loosely or otherwise) collection of songs."

Doh, you've done it gain with your sweeping incorrect statements.

If you cut a mater tape to the same dimensions as a normal tape, a walkman would happily play them all day long.

these deer were in our backyard this afternoon.
there is actually 5 of them, but you can only see 2 here(and the hindquarters of one more between the trees).

The other 3 smaller ones had moved deeper into the woods before I managed to grab my camera.

In my neighborhood, this sort of thing isn't at all uncommon. I am convinced that I could successfully hunt with a bag of chips and a bat.

A guy your size could with no doubt. Guys my size I believe where responsible for the invention of punji pits, trade, & running shoes for when you big folks decided not to share willingly.

I usually see the deer 2 at a time. There's also a HUGE white deer that I have seen twice, at night.
This is the first time I've seen 5 at once, though.
Our property is partially wooded, with a small creek running through it. Nice spot to see wildlife.
The deer also eat the figs off my trees before I get a chance to see them ripen. I trimmed the fig tree back, though - left the tallest bits of the tree in the center.
Ever since I did that, the figs have been pretty safe.

Saw a beaver just chilling on the side of the road the other day. Didn't have my camera handy, however.

I have noticed some guys who see live animals can't control their age old urge to kill and eat them. More interestingly, they're eager about expressing this urge. "Listen up: I could totally kill that animal and produce food."
There are probably a couple of reasons for this, like compensating for a lack of masculine outlets, alienation and latent hate towards the innocence of animals, and the need to dominate another being that will not resist like a human would.

I mentioned this to Brett yesterday. Got a similar comment on my facebook. Happens any time I post a wildlife pic, really.
Someone always has a "clever" comment about shooting them.

*note that I am not a vegetarian, but my first instinct upon seeing an animal is not to kill and eat them.

If all life is so precious then isn't the urge to cut up and eat an innocent vegetable just as heinous an act as the urge to kill an animal? They are alive just the same as us, we know they can sense the presence of others, can communicate with one another, and they react to death, emotions, and intent. That has been measured and proven in multiple studies. If anything, the way humanity treats plants is much more horrific than the way we treat animals.

And why is it ok to eat the ugly animals and not the pretty ones?

Your vegetable argument has traces of pedant-ism, a la Simon. He's rubbing off on you.

Also, no one said it wasn't okay to eat the deer.
However, it's not my immediate reaction kill and eat any animal, and I don't think it's normal to be like that, either.
I don't stare at pigs and think, "I WILL KILL YOU AND EAT YOUR BACON".
I fucking love bacon. But I'm not an aggressive asshole(usually).
