I still have to put up the cobwebs and blinking eyes. That requires the use of a ladder and the last time I was on a ladder I fell and busted my ass.Sooo..It'll just have to wait.

looks really good, suki

we're not done yet either. I'll be making molds for eyeballs, then filling them with glow sticks to make eyes peeping from the bushes in front here:

this skeleton looks better when it's night. It glows and has flashy eyes. The bat he's holding also glows - as does the spider in the web.

we'll be lining the carved pumpkins on the right wall, along with our man-eating jack o lantern(I have a homemade bloodied/chewed off leg/foot that we usually have hanging out of one of the jack o lantern's mouth.

also, I'll be removing the regular bulbs and replacing them with black lights.

probably a few other things, too. haven't quite decided yet.

Does Brett trim your bush or do you do it yourself?

I'd like to turn the carport into a haunted house type area. This is our first year in this house, and we got rid of some things when we moved. I'm feeling it out and trying to decide what we want to do.
I'd love to eventually go all out, and make it over-the-top.

ha-ha, drz.

I do it. Both sets.

I actually do almost all of the yardwork. Not that you were actually asking about yardwork.

Awesome! You could so put a coffin in there to make it extra spooky I haven't decorated in years,I'm still going through boxes I have up in the attic. I know I have 'fake' bones somewhere,I just haven't found them yet. Hopefully,by Halloween it'll all come together.

That's a good idea! I was thinking of doing some tombstones over in front of the bushes. No one ever uses the front door besides us, so it's not a big deal if the front porch is blocked.

I was also thinking of doing some ghosts or something hanging from the big crepe myrtle tree near the driveway.

It'll probably be years before we have it the way I want.

It's nice to see all the kids smiling and stopping to look when they see the decorations going up. Had quite a lot of kids and adults stopping to look today.

I can see kind of a freaky looking skull face up near the motion lights, but not the figures you're seeing. All the better if people see things in it, though. lol

I actually need to go buy a bit more webbing, so I can do the other side of the porch, and a few other spots.
At my other houses, I had never used much of it, but this time I used the whole bag.

We also have a huge flower bed with an awesome looking dogwood tree that could potentially look very spooky. I'm not sure I'll get to that this year, but our new front yard has a lot of space and opportunity to do fun stuff in the future.

Tombstones are always great, especially when they have funny little sayings on them They're also easy to make. I say go for it! The kids near me go crazy on cabbage night,so a lot of things have to be put out Halloween day.

No, I didn't see those, but now I can't unsee them. I may have to play with that a bit. A small styrofoam ball in the head areas could potentially work to make it scarier. Maybe paint on subtle ghostie faces. Hmm..

The skull itself makes the pic worthy of a 'When you see it" poster.

It's near the upper right corner of the window. The window frame runs straight down behind its face.

I think this year I'm gonna be an asshole and put hard boiled eggs and spaghetti(pasta) in a pot and make kids dig for their goodies.

… I'm trying to think of subtle things to say that would make an obsessive person go insane from holiday exhaustion, like "oh wouldn't it be neat to have some nice green pumpkins too, relief-carved in lace patterns, though"

do it! even better if you get the parents with tiny babies who have to do it.
you know the baby won't be getting any of that candy, so you might as well make the parents work for it.
