You probably cant tell the difference, I dont drink Vodka often enough, nor neat to know. I did try some Belvedere I bought a mates Mrs for Chrissy, it was fucking awful neat.
My issue with Smirnoff is its just so mass produced, likely all or at least most are given the volumes sold. But its volumes are so huge its made in India (among other places), possibly from the Ganges. Yes yes, alcohol blah blah. Apart from being facetious, the Ganges is said to possess its own anti bacterial properties too, part of a natural response to the various 'flavours' of pollutant it 'collects'.
I drink bourbon mostly and prefer to lie to myself and picture it doing time in oak barrels, in a barn/store somewhere in the south for its 8 -12 yrs after being lugged there on a t model Ford flatbed. But reality is its likely sitting in huge stainless steel vats with maybe chips of oak (among the other flavourings) like a runny gruel on some tank farm. There are genuine small batch offerings, not simply said to be small batch or smallER batch from the big distilleries... but apart from cost, they arent reliable in character due to the nature of small batch brewing and distilling. At times this would be a blessing, at times, a curse.

Absolut is also mass produced, but it's Swedish and thus of the highest quality. So yeah, the narrative surrounding our consumption is very important.
I like to think I'm saving the world when I buy something.
I alternate between brands with Vodka. I have an unopened bottle of Absolut (just noticed the lack of an 'e') and the last of some Ketel One in the fridge now (no I dont use the freezer for it). Previous to the Ketel One I think it was Finlandia. Stoly also makes it into the rotation based on whats on special at the time.
Theres a lot of new to my market Vodkas available with Russian lettering so knowing whats what is complicated and price is not an indicator of quality so who the fuck knows, apart from Ruskies and those who speak the lingo. Flavoured is of little use as all Vodka here goes in cocktails.
Thing is though, until recently I didnt drink much at all. Maybe once or twice a year. I rarely got shitfaced (twice that I recall), I would stop at 5 or 6 drinks over several hours. I didnt, but probably could have legally driven home. Over the last few years I have started to drink more often although not a lot by most standards. I would drink 1 stubbie of beer on a really hot day after some work in the sun such as mowing in summer. But I could only stomach the one stubbie and often didnt finish it. Never really had a thing for alcohol. But thats changed somewhat in the last 3 or so years. Now Id buy maybe 2 or 3 bottles of Vodka a year. And maybe 15 or so of Bourbon along with a few cartons of beer (carton - 24 x 375ml glass bottles (aka stubbies)). I dont mind a drink or two most days. Technically, an alcoholic I hear. If Im mowing in summer, Ill drink two stubbies sometimes, and then have a bourbon later in the night.
