To be fair, you were done with this conversation before you started the thread.

All you have done in this thread is ask for evidence, which was provided, and then ignored the presence of the evidence provided while continuing to claim no one provides evidence because it doesn't exist.

And at no time are you ever forthcoming with anything like evidence for your own claim.

Belief without evidence is the definition of faith. If anyone has it in this thread, it's you.

If you mean Piney, he's still sexy as fuck. He hasn't changed at all. I told him I was posting here and he volunteered a semi-naked pic Also, apparently, he's unable to post here. He tried resetting his password but still couldn't post. That seems a little odd.

*glares suspiciously at certain admin*

His computer skills have never been that great though, so I can't really automatically assume he is banned. If someone could confirm or refute, that would be useful.

I should probably also note that we have been married for 7 and a half years with absolutely no cuckolding. He still rocks my world

Did you and your husband meet here at the Asylum, or did you know each other before? If you did meet here, I think that's fantastic.

Don't be miffed muff.

Of course I remember you! I just didn't remember if you and Piney had first met on this site. And I think it's great that you both are still very much in love and so very happy together.

I hope Piney can get back onto this site, even if he has to come back as Piney2. And I hope you both start posting again on a very regular basis.

Muffy, you should PM Dingle re: Crika not being able to sign in. As far as I know he's the only one with access to the admin panel here. I dunno when he'll answer you though.

Hey if that's the reality you choose, who am I to wreck it? Believe what you want. If you want to think a convincing argument has been made here, more power to you. I don't really give a shit one way or another. If it turns out I'm wrong, it's still not a big deal to me. If it turns out I'm right, it's even less of a big deal. Win, win.

Boy, am I sick of winning.

I'm relieved. It's been a while, so I'm not sure how many of us are starting to exhibit early signs of senile dementia.

TT, what would you accept as evidence? Because from my perspective plenty has been presented by Fubar, but you seem to challenge the source, legitimacy etc (because it doesn't support your view?). Also, your argument seems to be that global warming isn't happening because the climate has been warming and cooling for millions of years... I find that one a little hard to follow. Kind of like saying the ice age didn't happen because the earth just naturally warms and cools. So.... it just happened to be a little chillier at that point of time?

I was never really a fan of marriage. It still seems like a stupid convention to me. But it seems to work with Piney. I doubt the lack of legal arrangement would change that though. I hope you find your happiness in whatever arrangement works for you, married or otherwise.

I'd settle for one of the Warmists' many dire predictions to take place. So far none have. The global average temp has risen neglegibly in some 20 years. They claim there is a consensus, but that's a lie. Besides, science is not proven by consensus, but by empirical evidence bearing out the given theory. Add to that the absence of a nullifying observation (ie something that disproves the theory). ALL scientific theory requires a nullifier in order to be in line with accepted scientific methodology. However, as I said, I'm done arguing about religion here. We must agree to disagree.

I would like to ask you or fubar or anyone, what would you have to observe to make you doubt global warming really exists? I'm just curious.

Less melting ice, water rising etc. would be a good start. I'm more interested in why people like yourself doubt the science that has been offered (empirical evidence being hard to acquire when facing a problem that happens over decades rather than days). It seems to me that the overwhelming majority of experts in the field agree that it's a real problem, and short of some truly weird global conspiracy to just make shit up, I don't really see any reason to doubt their views. They know more about it than we do and, when I read their arguments, I have less problem following their logic than I do that of deniers. I think you are right about the proof not being 100%, but the argument is very compelling and that is sufficient cause for concern IMO, or sufficient reason for people not to ignore the potential problem. I don't think waiting for a dire prediction to come true is terribly constructive.

Well, no one. Because you don't provide any evidence supporting your claim. I'd be interested to see any evidence you have, and I have no problem admitting when I'm wrong IF someone can prove it. It's happened many times before.

If you can provide sufficient evidence, I'll be happy to believe you.

If you don't have any evidence, then please just admit you don't and that you choose to ignore evidence counter to your claim. If you can admit that, I'll happily stay out of your psychosis.

I gather the FACT that the average global temperature hasn't risen measurably in over 20 years doesn't impress you at all? I won't even get into the doctored data scandals. But, as I said, I'm done arguing about this foolishness. You believe what you want and I'll believe what I want. Someday we'll find out who believed correctly and that will be that. Meanwhile, I'll keep donating to environmental causes that matter and you can wring your hands over global warming.

The End

Isn't this one of those situations where Pascal's wager type reasoning would apply? It seems we have far more to gain by getting on board with trying to save the planet than we do sitting around trying to disprove global warming theories.

As I have stated many times, I am all for taking care of our environment. I just hate seeing real environmental threats losing out on funds that are being diverted to an imaginary one, or at the very least one with an impact that has been greatly exaggerated, in my opinion.

Well, how about we call it "weird and fucked up climate and weather shit", because there seems to have been quite a bit of that. Maybe then people like Trump won't get so confused when it snows. All my facepalming at his tweets has made my nose a little tender.

A negative -- or even zero -- slope on the graph of average global temperature over the same time scale that currently shows it as increasing.

I didn't realize doubt still exists over this even amongst those who used to hold it. My impression was that the argument had shifted to climate change and the role humans play in it.

I've never understood this objection. Scientists don't vote to achieve a consensus. In physics they would run experiments, examine data, compare that to a model, and draw a conclusion. If a convincing majority of scientists reach the same conclusion, then we have a so-called consensus and a theory becomes accepted.

I find it incredibly hard to believe that climate scientists aren't following the same process.

At the very least, I would think this would be the sensible route. At worst we wind up with more options for just about everything.
