AHHH! Football is back!

And I'm not talking about fucking soccer either!
I'm talking about the MAN SPORT!
All these months of hibernation
I can finally come out of my cave!
There is no substitute.

quote:
Football Is My Life
(It Feels Like Sunday)

It is football season
Gladiators of the field
My life again has reason
And my body completely healed
Sunday morning I head to the stadium
I am ready to go
Supercharged like radium
No ordinary Joe
In the locker room I await
I am mentally and physically fit
Soon I will meet my fate
Ready for the first hit
My uniform clean
It is time to start
The fans go wild as I am seen
For the game I do my part
These are my fans
I am the beer man, coo coo cochoo
I have both bottles & cans
For my fans either will do

Anson Pine

American football isn't what it used to be. It's a boring spectacle at best. The most talented players play well just long enough to get fat contracts, then they milk said contracts with "injuries".

American football is a fail. As is hockey. And basketball. And baseball never was a sport. It just gave homos something to do during their refractory periods.

I hate to say it, but few athletes involved in most north american sports could compete on a soccer field. It requires a higher level of conditioning and doesn't have a stoppage of play every 11 seconds.

Hockey players might be able to hack it, though.

And NASCAR is only good for obtaining BJs from toothless women. But it excels at that.

Allah be praised for NASCAR.

@ fubar.

Football is different than soccer. And rugby. While football player probably couldn't play soccer, or rugby, I doubt a soccer or rugby player could play football.

NASCAR does suck a nut though. Poor Villeneuve.

GEAUX TIGERS!

I have played football, soccer, basketball and hockey. Not that I was great at any of them, but from my experience, soccer requires more toughness than any of the others.

Though I doubt most players from one sport could be very good in another, I do believe that soccer players would stand a better chance in those other sports.

I'm sorry Fubar, i agree with what you are saying to an extent, but you are wrong in others. Yes i think "FOOTBALLERS" are as good an athlete as you will find in any sport nowadays, and as good as any generall athlete as it comes.......but i think you have overlooked RUGBY UNION mate that is non stop rugby.

And, skinny, rugby league is closer to American football and has, historically at least, been more brutally physical than rugby union.

I disagree on the brutal side and the athletesism.......history wise?

Rugby league to American football i agree i just don't know why you are pulling me up on that one.....

i think there is crossed wires here some where

Footballers are more athletic than all of them

THen there is Rugby union , which i think is more brutal than league

Rugby league is closer to American football, but i would like to hear your history because i certainly don't know it

American football is a puffs game

I like that in American Football there could be a fucking hurricane coming and the game is STILL ON.
It never delays.....I don't think...ever?

Please, it delays every 7 seconds. Every play review. Every commercial break. Every end-of-quarter. Every 2-minute warning.

Posted by fubar on 08-29-2006 04:34 AM:

But baseball will delay if there aren't enough feather boas to go around.

That's for commercials so the players get paid.

I played union at school (we weren't allowed to play footie or even bring a football to school). League, though, was always more brutal, because they tackled harder and more often; indeed, once the league players were allowed into union, I think it improved the athleticism of union (in addition to, of course, the fact that union had gone pro itself and so they trained like professionals).

I like watching American football if there's something else going on too (like a bar conversation). It takes too long for the amount of actual play that occurs, to just watch it and nothing else and I don't find the commentators interesting enough to make up for the lack of play.

The thing about the US football mindset that I have found the most wierd is the "fantasy football" concept.

It's like AD&D for meatheads.

Ah, rugby League:

Saints second-row John Wilkin on playing the final with a broken nose.
