Death penalty for Child Molesters

Once again Texas is leading the way on death penalty cases. This time they are pursuing adding Child Molesting to Death Penalty Offenses.

Opponents say that making the death penalty the punishment for molestation encourages the molester to kill the victim. And it would make it harder for kids to turn in family members.

What do you think?

Life imprisonment, meaning LIFE, as in their entire lives.

One proposed bill offered the suggestion of Life Imprisonment... and if parole happens an ankle bracelet. Is there a law that a parole must date must be set...even if it's 356 years from now?

Is that like a "fry or spare" question?

What about priests? Do you think the Religious Right would start having a problem with the death penalty if it involved their religious leaders?

no i was saying that if the choice is between life imprisonment and death. i choose death because its cheaper.

the seriousness of the crime has got nothing to do with it. if a purse snatcher was being sentenced to life in prison. i would rather see him dead. because as i have said 3 times now, its cheaper.

I think that if it passes it won't stand more than long enough to reach the USSC. Nor should it.

Life without parole is a valid sentence. Under Texas law, a life sentence is treated for purposes of parole as a 60 year sentence (parole eligible after 20 calendar years served), or if aggravated, after 40 calendar years served.

On any life sentence parole is for the remainder of the felons life, and the Board of Pardons and Paroles can and does impose restrictive conditions of parole regularly.
