what the asylum taught me

My experience here was formative. Admittedly the internet, and this tiny little corner of it, aren't exactly the nuclear vision for character formation but thems the breaks. I shared an awful lot of my bad behavior with the world through this place. I drank too much. I reveled in sharing my blood soaked image with you. I boasted about my sex life. I took dick pics!

I got a tiny bit of perspective. I gained a substantive understanding of just how goddamn unintelligent I am. I learned a lot about politics and what directions political conversations can go. I learned to consider what people of consequence say and how their words and actions might affect me. I learned that I'm not that funny.

I learned about graphic violence. I learned that it takes a pretty good amount of time to die after getting your trachea cut out and it sounds terrible. I learned that a point blank shotgun blast to the chest can drain a man's body of blood in seconds. I learned that at least one woman allowed her breasts to be nailed to a board. I learned that at least two men shove batteries up their urethra.

I learned that a few people are willing to do a lot of work on their own time and their own dime to keep a small community going for fifteen years in the face of megacorps all consuming communities of doom. I learned that spending enormous numbers of hours on the asylum as a college aged person was probably not the best position to put myself. I learned that everyone and everything has its ups and downs. I learned that a lot of you people are dead or dying.

Recently my wife, the squirter from that thread G likes to link when I show up, was super pregnant. Being super pregnant is like being a fifteen year old boy, apparently. Her libido was high and we got kinky. I'd call her names like "fuck meat" and tell her she was built for dick. I like peeing on her but it's usually pretty timid stuff. This time I had her lay down in the shower and I peed on her face. She peed on me too but she was too shy to go for broke. This is grown up responsible kink. It's peeing on a giant bellied woman you've been in love with for half your life. Good times.

Hmmm. Pee, eh? That must be that sekshul fluidity they're talkin' about.

It should be called the Pee 'n' Wee Herman.

Amen.

True that, oh grasshoppa. You’re definitely not crazy. You’re just meat headed.

Amen.

That I should not talk about other people's privates, that I should restrict boozy intake, that interweb people are real, that words heal and hurt, that I should do more art.

You’re lucky, Herk. I’ve lost at least two IQ points per year ever since I’ve been here. At this rate, I expect my brain will be a kumquat by 2022, if not sooner.

Amen.

Indeed. And this place is one of them.
