Moving requires a certain level of economic ability that many people do not have. Moreover, those who do have the ability are more likely to be happy with where they are, and those who do not are more likely to want to leave. Your comment is calous and self-centered. Perhaps your community would be better served if the people who wanted to stay (you) tried to figure out why the other people want to change things and what could be done to make their lives better, instead of telling them it's your way or the highway.
It's hard to move when you're barely able to get enough food to stay alive. It's hard to move when your country is paying you in vodka. It's hard to move when you're protesting because your job owes you money and you have to carry your daughter in the protest because you can't afford to hire a sitter.
GLN: In case you didn't notice... or were you too busy trying to get into an angry rage of hysterics... I said "as a side note"... I wasn't making any reference to Russia, unless you think that my job has russian constituents calling all of the time. As you've said, since they have no money, I doubt that would be the case.
What I'm talking about, is fees about things such as parking complaints, for example. It enrages me when a decision is passed by ELECTED MEMBERS OF COUNCIL, most likely due to the fact that fees were higher and lower, and they decide to make it "fair" by jacking up the costs in what is considered a major city. Then, you see, I get to deal with arrogant pricks who decide that it's not fair that their 2 cars for their 4 members of family should have to pay more in parking fees because they have TWO CARS instead of one.
Fair, as you've put it, would be to allow as many people as possible buy one parking space, but not two... if they want two, they should be charged more (which *STILL* ends up being less than what they would pay elsewhere).
The government can't make everyone happy. Nobody will ever be happy with the funding allotments. Some people would want to sponsor arts, others might prefer the best roads & hiways around, and some might want the best educations for their children. Some people would bitch about not getting all of the above. Nobody wants high taxes. If you want many programs, you're going to have to learn to pay. That's life. If you don't like it, and think it could be done better, find somewhere, but I would be surprised if you could.
This is not unlike the poor starving children of third world countries. Maybe we should supply the parents with birth control information, or give them the option of getting IUDs instead of feeding generation after generation of their multiple offspring.
The more homeless shelters you subsidize, the more homeless people will attend for the "freebies" and the more you encourage them to remain homeless. And this, my darlings, is coming from an ex-streetkid.
quote:Originally posted by greenleakynipples I don't care what kind of handbag the cop got hit with, the proper response is to restrain the woman, not to punch her in the face, period. I'm guessing he wasn't aiming at the kid, that the mom turned and little girl ended up getting hit. But the cop is still wrong to be throwing punches.
this is true. i believe proper police procedure is to use a club or metal baton of some sort.
quote:Originally posted by Angelbaby15 I agree the cop shoudln't have hit anyone...regardless if he was hit before. He is trained to respond in many ways to defend himself without punching. There are many ways to restrain someone using physical force without harming them. But I do want to know what the mother was doing putting her child in that kind of environment where trouble could be or violence was anticipated. She should have thought the whole situation through first.
Yeah and then I realized that this is in Russia. Luckily the cop didnt drag her ass into and alley and proceed to do naughty things to her.
