I’ve got about 1500 vinyl lps and perhaps a couple hundred cds, give or take. I don’t listen to any of ‘em anymore. But, that does not mean they’ve all lost favor to my ears. Rather, it’s become MUCH easier to access the music I want to hear, much of which is on those lps and cds. But, it’d be silly to get rid of ‘em just because.
All that aside, I’ve never listened to a bunch of those on his list. I’ll add that I don’t give a shit about U2. I also have three Grateful Dead albums, but I must confess they’ve never been anything special to me. Perhaps I might feel differently had I experienced them live. I think, though, that many of those professing to be fans of theirs did so believing it somehow lent cool to their self-image. It did not, IMHO.
" Future years will never know the seething hell and the black infernal background of countless minor scenes and interiors, (not the official surface courteousness of the Generals, not the few great battles) of the Secession war; and it is best they should notthe real war will never get in the books." ~ Walt Whitman
