I will always vote for Universal health care and this is why.
I don't want my waiter or cook sick with the flu when I eat out during the day because they have to pay the rent and can't afford to see a doctor.
Why do those that defend not having health care for all not see this?
" Future years will never know the seething hell and the black infernal background of countless minor scenes and interiors, (not the official surface courteousness of the Generals, not the few great battles) of the Secession war; and it is best they should notthe real war will never get in the books." ~ Walt Whitman

They DO see it. The problem is that the acquisition of wealth erodes compassion for those less fortunate. And/Or worse, keeping millions of people broke and living in fear and poverty without hope is a nice way to slowly funnel money from the bottom to the top.
My politics have changed so much during my life. When I was a kid, I believed my parents and had a proto-FOX News view of the world.
Around the time my first kid was born, things started to change, and eventually I swung almost fully left.
Now I've come to realize that the far right is just a tool for the rich to enact laws to exploit the middle class down. The far left has become so weakened by social media that it cannot be taken seriously. And presidents serve no purpose, regardless of their party.
If I had to describe my politics these days, I guess I'd be a moderate anarchist.

Anyway, I am concerned that he is being short sighted and somewhat alienating the US from the rest of the world. I also found it amusing that his meeting in Korea was a flop... I honestly do not know enough about virtual powerhouses, but I am not convinced Russia would be the only powerhouse involved in the alleged hacking. I am looking at you, China.
On a personal note, in watching his speeches, and news aside from fox, I do think he has growing to do in the realms of both racism and sexism, and I strongly believe he could benefit from a psychologist. I do not mean this in a caustic way, but instead more as a helping hand.
Globally, lines are being drawn in the sand. All of my life I have never felt this close to a world war breaking out. I also firmly believe money could be invested in different ways to ease the illegal immigration. A wall, though marginally effective, has serious limitations. I feel like the whole premise is just a tangible show of power.
I, living with socialized health care, know it does not come without cost, but feel as though everyone can equally benefit from it, so it is not an unfair investment. But, I will be honest, I know canadians that go to the usa or overseas to get treatments because of the time it takes to get help here... lots of waiting lists... and our province has been cutting health care this year, which is starting to show at hospitals now.
