Tiger House (2015)

I watched this joint South Africa/UK production this afternoon on Netflix. Not bad. It’s a home invasion flick. You’ll have to watch it to get the rest. Here’s a link.

Amen.

Black Panther (2018)

I saw Black Panther last night. It’s part of the Marvel Universe of comic book characters. As far as movies go, it’s juvenile in its delivery, although that’s not surprising, considering it began as a comic book. As for its merits as a movie, it’s alright. That said, it is getting a whole lotta love on Rotten T‘maters, but I didn’t see anything in it that would warrant urging others to pay retail to see it.

Here’s a link.

Amen.

Thumbs up Sleight (2017)

I just got through watching Sleight for free, thanks to a premium channel preview going on this weekend. This is a good movie, in fact, I enjoyed it much more than Black Panther, which I saw Thursday evening at retail. I didn’t recognize any of the nearly all black cast. There are a few token caucasians, none of whom I recognized, either. Regardless, the cast excels.

Here’s a link.

Amen.

Being There (1971)

It was on TCM and I've never seen a more ridiculous movie in my life. That the protagonist, who is a total illiterate, would fool the President of the United States, as well as a billionaire business tycoon, into thinking that he was a brilliant thinker, defies credulity. A movie of this sort has to have some believability to it, and this one has none. I cannot believe that anyone liked this movie and many people did.
